Lore
I'm Brandon Hollins, a self-taught product designer based in Jackson, MS. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.
In summer 2021, I interned as a Product Designer at M1, where I collaborated with software engineering interns to simplify and visualize complex dividend data.
The following summer, I joined SimplePractice as a Product Designer intern on the Design Systems team, where I refactored the icon library and contributed to component updates. After six months, I was promoted to a full-time Product Designer position on the Design Systems team. In this role, I've worked on various projects, including redesigning toasts, creating a multi-select filter component, developing a dark mode color theme for the mobile app, and conducting user research for our design team.
When I'm not building things, I love to read. While I mainly read science fiction and fantasy, I've recently become interested in biographies and memoirs. I am currently reading "Poor Charlie's Almanack" by Charlie Munger and "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running" by Haruki Murakami.
Why I Design
What drives me is creating solutions that make a genuine difference in people's lives. I find deep satisfaction in tackling complex problems through design, following the journey from initial research to final implementation. My motivation comes from those moments when I see someone interact effortlessly with something I've designed—that subtle smile or nod that signals we've solved a real need.
I'm passionate about the entire process: uncovering insights through thoughtful research, collaborating with diverse teams to explore possibilities, and refining details until the experience feels intuitive. Each project presents a new opportunity to grow my skills while creating something that truly matters. Put simply, I'm motivated by using design as a tool to transform frustration into delight.
